Commissions

Creating fine art portraits of a wide range of animals and wildlife. Using the finest, lighfast professional watercolour paints and archival watercolour paper.

I have limited availability in between exhibitions and shows to accept a small number of private commissions a year.

If you would like to commission a portrait of a family pet, horse, livestock or any other animal, please get in touch via the Commission Form below and I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

THE PROCESS

  • Get in touch with me via the Commissions Form below or email me here.

  • I will ask you to upload or email some of your favourite photos, which we will discuss and choose the best ones to base your portrait on. Please read my Photo Guide for tips on the best reference photos.

  • I will give you a date for your commission booking and ask for a  50% non-refundable deposit to secure your commission space, with the full balance due on completion.

  • I will then create your portrait using the finest, lightfast professional watercolour paints and archival watercolour paper.

  • When your portrait is complete, I will send you a photo by email to approve. I will then request the full balance due. Once your payment has been received, your portrait will be professionally mounted and carefully packaged prior shipping via Royal Mail tracked and signed for.

How it Works

What will I receive:

  • A Premium Portrait created with the finest quality lightfast, archival professional artist materials to ensure your portrait lasts for decades to come

  • Your portrait will arrive professionally single mounted ready for framing

  • Signed Certificate of Authenticity

  • Artwork Care Guide

How long will a portrait take:

I cannot give an exact timescale as it depends on the length of my waitlist when you book. Leading up to Christmas I am very busy so you need to book well in advance. If you have a particular date in mind, please contact me by email asap to make sure I can meet your required deadline.

If you need an urgent portrait, I will do my best to accommodate you. If it is too late for a portrait, Fiona Dillon Art

Gift Vouchers are extremely popular and arrive to the recipient by email.

What photos do you need?

I can only paint as well as the reference photos provided. I need at least one high quality, up close photo focused on the image you would like me to paint and then a few others so I can get a feel of the personality, eyes, colour and fur texture of the animal. The better resolution, the better the portrait - see Photo Guide.

When do you need payment?

I ask for a 50% deposit to secure your commission space with the full balance payable on approval of your painting.

How will I receive my portrait:

When your final payment has cleared, your portrait will be carefully packaged flat and shipped using Royal Mail tracked and signed for.

Copyright and reproduction:

As the artist, Fiona Dillon retains all copyrights to works of art. If you wish to reproduce my portrait you must obtain my written permission.

Will my portrait appear on your website and social media?

Highly likely! BUT if the portrait is a gift, please let me know and I will not show it on my website or social media until the gift has been delivered. Once the gift has been delivered, it is highly likely that I will add the portrait to my website gallery. I will also share it on social media so everyone can see what I have been working on!
